35 Da traten Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne des Zebedäus, zu ihm und sagten: Meister, wir möchten, dass du uns eine Bitte erfüllst. 36 Er antwortete: Was soll ich für euch tun? 37 Sie sagten zu ihm: Lass in deiner Herrlichkeit einen von uns rechts und den andern links neben dir sitzen! 38 Jesus erwiderte: Ihr wisst nicht, worum ihr bittet. Könnt ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, oder die Taufe auf euch nehmen, mit der ich getauft werde? 39 Sie antworteten: Wir können es. Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Ihr werdet den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und die Taufe empfangen, mit der ich getauft werde. 40 Doch den Platz zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken habe nicht ich zu vergeben; dort werden die sitzen, für die es bestimmt ist. 41 Als die zehn anderen Jünger das hörten, wurden sie sehr ärgerlich über Jakobus und Johannes. 42 Da rief Jesus sie zu sich und sagte: Ihr wisst, dass die, die als Herrscher gelten, ihre Völker unterdrücken und ihre Großen ihre Macht gegen sie gebrauchen. 43 Bei euch aber soll es nicht so sein, sondern wer bei euch groß sein will, der soll euer Diener sein, 44 und wer bei euch der Erste sein will, soll der Sklave aller sein. 45 Denn auch der Menschensohn ist nicht gekommen, um sich dienen zu lassen, sondern um zu dienen und sein Leben hinzugeben als Lösegeld für viele.

Unter dem klaren, blauen Himmel Galiläas wandert Jesus mit seinen Jüngern auf einem staubigen Pfad, umgeben von sanften Hügeln und vereinzelten Olivenbäumen. Die Luft ist erfüllt von leisen Gesprächen und dem gelegentlichen Zwitschern der Vögel, als Jakobus und Johannes sich Jesus nähern, ihre Augen voller Erwartung und vielleicht glänzt auch ein gewisser Ehrgeiz. Jesus hält inne, sein Blick ruhig und durchdringend, ist auf die beiden Brüder gerichtet während er ihnen zuhört und dann mit Weisheit und Geduld auf ihre kühne Bitte antwortet. Die Frage und die Antwort versetzt die anderen Jünger in Aufruhr. Ich versuche mir die Stimmung in der Gruppe vorzustellen und mich hineinzuversetzen.

Jesus beruhigt die Situation in dem er auf das dienende Element in der Führung hinweist. Wie verstehe ich den Gedanken des "Dienens" in meinem Alltag, und in welchen Situationen fällt es mir schwer, dieses Prinzip zu leben? Wie kann ich in meinen verschiedenen Rollen (Beruf, Familie, Gemeinschaft) eine Haltung des demütigen Führens kultivieren?

Ich höre die Lesung ein zweites Mal und achte besonders auf die Emotionen der Jünger, was sie aufregt und was sie beruhigt.
Meine Gedanken und Gefühle mache ich zu einem Gebet und vertraue Gott an, was mich bewegt.
So bitten wir Gott um seinen Segen für das Kommende.
Es segne und begleite uns Gott der Vater und der Sohn und der Heilige Geist. Amen.
